SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah cross country program found valuable experience at NCAA Regionals in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Nov. 14. The women's team landed 17th with 464 points, and the men's team finished 14th with a score of 408.
Coach Eric Houle said:
"It was a tough race for this very young women's team, but they gained some very valuable experience today. The men moved up a couple of spots from their initial rankings. It was the first 10K for the men's team this year — a tough adjustment — but we still made good improvement."
Women's Recap
The women's team struggled to keep up while facing off against the region's top athletes, placing 17th with a score of 464 points.
After an impressive start to the race, freshman Aspen Hacker finished first for the Thunderbirds and 75th overall with a 22:32.5 6K. Sophomore Audrey Hales returned from behind to take 82nd place with a 22:43.8. In 89th, Nixie Killpack crossed the line at 22:56.5.

Men's Recap
The men's team fared reasonably well in their competition, logging 408 points and finishing 14th in a field of 18 of the region's top teams.
Junior Logan Peel inched his way up through the pack throughout the race, ultimately earning 55th with a 32:03.3 10K. Freshman Jacob Jones followed closely behind at 32:22.2, taking 65th. In 86th place, freshman Amit Cohen finished third for the Thunderbirds with a 33:17.9.
