Southern Utah Stars Selected for Walter Camp Spotlight

| By:

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Walter Camp Football Foundation announced its 2025 FCS Player of the Year Watch List on Wednesday, and Southern Utah is one of just three programs nationally to place multiple student-athletes on the prestigious list. Running back Joshua Dye and defensive end Lando Brown were each recognized among the top players in the subdivision, highlighting the Thunderbirds' remarkable season on both sides of the ball.

Head Coach DeLane Fitzgerald Said

"We're honored to have both Josh and Lando included on the Walter Camp Watch List. Their production speaks for itself, but it's their consistency and commitment that make them special. They've earned every bit of this recognition."

Joshua Dye – Running Back

A national frontrunner for multiple postseason honors, Joshua Dye continues to rewrite the Southern Utah record book. Through 11 games, Dye has rushed for 1,723 yards on 272 carries, averaging 156.6 yards per game, one of the highest marks in all of Division I football. He currently sits in the #3 spot for rushing yards in a single season in SUU history. His 25 rushing touchdowns lead Division I this year and set a new program record for rushing touchdowns in a single season. Also, he owns a per-carry average of 6.3 yards, showcasing both efficiency and explosiveness. Dye has posted a season-long of 92 yards and is one of only five running backs included on this year's Walter Camp Watch List.

Lando Brown – Defensive End

On the defensive side, Lando Brown has established himself as one of the most disruptive edge defenders in the nation. Through 10 games, Brown has tallied 43 total tackles, including a dominant 15 tackles for loss and 12 sacks for 77 yards. His ability to pressure opposing quarterbacks stands out as well. Brown has recorded 11 quarterback hurries, consistently forcing offenses into hurried throws and negative plays. He is one of only three defensive players nationwide selected to this year's Walter Camp Watch List.

National Recognition

The Walter Camp FCS Player of the Year award, presented by Crabtree Lexus of New Haven, will be announced in mid-December. This marks the third year the award has been presented, joining the Foundation's long-standing tradition of honoring excellence at every level of college football.
