CEDAR CITY, Utah — The Thunderbirds wrapped their final home stand of the season with an 8-3 victory on Sunday afternoon. Despite falling behind on a first-inning home run, the T-Birds came soaring back to take the game and the series. Southern Utah improves to 10-11 against Western Athletic Conference opponents.

The Thunderbirds finished with 16 hits, including multi-hit games from Arianna Ramirez, Kassidy Munoz, Tawnie Mozeris, and Ariyana Miranda, showing off the depth and power of their lineup. Ramirez continued to impress going four for four on the day with three RBIs, and Munoz was stellar as well, racking up three hits and three RBIs.

Freshman Maddie Moreno got the start in the game, going two innings, surrendering two runs on one hit, and striking out three. Sophomore Emily Delgado came into the game in relief, pitching five innings, allowing just one run on three hits and fanning six batters to earn the win.

Coach Don Don Williams Said

"I'm incredibly proud of our team — to not only win the series against UTA but to win every series at home this year is really special. Doing it on Senior Day made it even more meaningful. Our seniors have given so much to this program, and it was an amazing way to honor their commitment and hard work."

Home Sweet Home

The Thunderbirds finished the season having won every home series for the first time since 2017. The Thunderbirds finished with an 8-4 record at Kathryn Berg Field, the first winning record at home since 2021. Sophomore Arianna Ramirez has been incredible in home games with a .595 batting average, six doubles, eight home runs, and 27 RBIs.

Game Summary

UTA jumped out to a quick lead in the top of the first when McNulty launched a two-run homer to center field, giving the visitors a 2–0 edge. But the Thunderbirds wasted no time answering. In the bottom half of the inning, clutch two-out hits from Munoz and Amayah Boostedt tied the game at 2–2, setting the tone for the rest of the afternoon.

After a scoreless second, the Thunderbirds took control in the third. Miranda led off with a double, and Ramirez followed with another double to drive her in. Munoz kept her bat hot with an RBI single up the middle, and Mozeris capped the rally with a run-scoring single to push the lead to 5–2.

Thunderbird pitcher Emily Delgado settled in after a threat in her first inning, retiring nine of the next 11 batters she faced to keep the Mavericks off the board and protect the lead.

In the sixth, Southern Utah put the game away. Miranda drove home a run, and Ramirez crushed a two-run homer to left field to stretch the advantage to 8–2.

UT Arlington managed to scratch across a run in the top of the seventh on an RBI single from Spriggs, but it was too little, too late. Delgado struck out Maldonado looking to slam the door and secure the win.

Senior Day

Following the win, the Thunderbirds took time to recognize the outstanding seniors for the 2025 team. Each one of these players has made an impact on this team, and they will leave a legacy of hard work and perseverance for future T-Birds.
