CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah gymnastics turned in another statement week, sweeping the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation weekly awards for the second consecutive time. Junior Niya Randolph was named MPSF Gymnast of the Week, freshman Berlin Hall earned Freshman of the Week honors, and junior Alex Routsis was selected as Specialist of the Week following a pair of strong road meets.
Head Coach Scotty Bauman Said
"Being recognized by the MPSF is always an honor, especially in a conference with so much depth and quality gymnastics. We have tremendous respect for the teams and athletes we compete against every week. Niya, Alex, and Berlin each did an outstanding job representing our program, and I'm proud of the way they competed on the road."
The recognition marks the second weekly award of the season for both Randolph and Hall. For Randolph, it is the 12th MPSF weekly honor of her career, while Routsis and Hall each picked up the second conference award of their careers.
Randolph led the charge with two complete all-around performances against some of the region's top competition. At the Best of Utah meet against Utah, BYU, and Utah State, the Las Vegas native posted a 39.125, highlighted by matching 9.825s on vault and beam. She was even stronger days later in Logan, capturing the all-around title at Utah State with a 39.275. Randolph closed the meet with an exclamation point, meet-winning 9.875 on balance beam, sealing first place while adding 9.825s on vault and bars along the way.
Routsis anchored the bars lineup all week, earning Specialist of the Week after delivering two clutch routines under pressure. At the Best of Utah, the junior from Falcon, Colorado, tied her career high with a 9.875 on the uneven bars, helping keep Southern Utah competitive in a loaded field. She followed that performance with a poised 9.825 at Utah State, providing a steady score after a long judges' delay and playing a key role in the Flippin' Birds' road effort.
Hall continued her strong freshman campaign, earning Freshman of the Week honors for the second time this season. The Gilbert, Arizona native impressed at the Best of Utah with a third-place finish on floor, posting a 9.875 against elite competition, while also setting a new career best of 9.725 on vault. She backed it up at Utah State with another solid showing, including a 9.775 on floor, continuing to provide consistency and valuable lineup depth early in her collegiate career.
With the second straight MPSF sweep, Southern Utah continues to build momentum and establish itself as one of the conference's most consistent and complete teams.
