Head Coach Rob Jeter said

"The environment for these games are always great. We are playing good, disciplined basketball right now, but we haven't done it on the road yet and this will be the perfect opportunity."

Last Matchup

  • The Thunderbirds played down in St. George on December 29 and lost 80-66 to the Trailblazers. Five different UT players scored in double figures. SUU made just five three-pointers and were 13-21 from the free-throw line. Dylan Jones led the way for SUU, scoring 12 points in 21 minutes.

The Thunderbirds

Over their last three games, SUU is shooting just under 50% from the field and 43% from three. They are also averaging 17 assists in that same stretch.

Through seven conference games, the trio of Jaiden Feroah, Tanner Hayhurst, and Dylan Jones has combined for 39 made triples. Feroah is shooting 45% from deep while Hayhurst and Jones are at 42% each.

Hayhurst and Jones are the only teammates in the conference with at least 35 made three-pointers on the year.

Feroah has been dominant in conference play. He is averaging 14 points and 8.3 rebounds per game on 54/45/76 shooting splits.

True freshman point guard Elijah Duval is still learning to play the game at the Division I level, but he has the ability to take over a game at any point. In conference play, he is averaging just under 10 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, and leads the team with three assists per game.

Lorenzo Abellar is another player who has been instrumental in SUU's recent success. He comes off the bench and is a calming presence for the rest of the team. He has 16 assists through seven conference games, he has made four of his seven three-point attempts, and is 16-18 from the free-throw line.

Isaiah Cottrell has really come on recently and has been a force to be reckoned with inside the paint. Over the last two games, Cottrell has averaged 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 55% from the field. He also has six blocks over the last two contests.

The Trailblazers

Success for Utah Tech has been pretty straightforward: If they can make three-pointers, they have a good chance of winning. In all three of their conference wins, the Trailblazers made at least eight three-pointers, including 10 makes against SUU in the first matchup.

As a team, Utah Tech shoots the deep ball at 31% on the season. Noah Bolanga, Chance Trujillo, and Jusaun Holt combine for 104 of Utah Tech's 155 made triples on the year.

Ethan Potter is the Trailblazers' most consistent player. He is coming off a WAC Player of the Week award and averages 16 points and 7.7 rebounds on 59% from the floor this season.

Bolanga, Trujillo, and Holt also average double-digit scoring.
