CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah men's basketball head coach Rob Jeter has been ranked No. 95 among all 365 active NCAA Division I head coaches in an all-time ranking released this week by college basketball and NBA Draft analyst JPR (@Scouting_Col).
The ranking covers active head coaches entering the 2026-27 season. It weighs NCAA titles, Final Fours, NCAA Tournament wins, conference titles, career wins and winning percentage, with bonuses for mid-major tournament upsets and national titles below Division I.
In Elite Company
Jeter's spot puts him in the top 100 alongside the most decorated coaches in the sport. Kansas' Bill Self tops the list, followed by Michigan State's Tom Izzo, Arkansas' John Calipari, St. John's' Rick Pitino and Gonzaga's Mark Few. Houston's Kelvin Sampson and UConn's Dan Hurley round out the top seven.
Jeter is ranked ahead of several high-major head coaches, including Maryland's Buzz Williams (No. 97), Georgia's Mike White (No. 99), Wisconsin's Greg Gard (No. 106), Nebraska's Fred Hoiberg (No. 130) and Kentucky's Mark Pope (No. 164).
A Championship Resume
Jeter enters his fourth season leading the Thunderbirds and SUU's first season in the Big Sky Conference.
He spent 11 seasons as head coach at Milwaukee, where he went 185-170. That made him the winningest Division I coach in program history. He won 20 or more games five times, earned Horizon League Coach of the Year honors and led the Panthers to an NCAA Tournament victory. He also served as head coach at Western Illinois from 2020 to 2023.
Before becoming a head coach, Jeter was an assistant under Bo Ryan at UW-Platteville, Milwaukee and Wisconsin, with a stint at Marquette in between. He helped Platteville win two NCAA Division III national titles. As a player, he captained the Pioneers to the 1991 Division III championship and was named to the All-Final Four team.
