CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The SUU Men's Basketball team is coming off an unfortunate home loss to Tarleton State last time out, but will look to return to its winning ways inside the AFEC on Thursday against California Baptist.

The Lancers and the Thunderbirds met in Riverside on Jan 10, and the T-Birds' comeback came up just three points short.

Head Coach Rob Jeter said

"We know that we can beat anybody in this league. We just have to play our style of basketball. We almost got CBU on their home floor, and now they are coming to the AFEC and we are expecting a different result."

Previous Matchup

• The first matchup between the two squads was a defensive battle throughout. CBU ultimately came away with a 58-55 win in Riverside. Jaiden Feroah led the Thunderbirds with 16 points, while Dominique Daniels Jr led the Lancers with 20.

The Thunderbirds

Jaiden Feroah has led the Thunderbirds since starting conference play at 15.55 points per game, which is good enough for fifth in the conference and is second in the league in rebounds with 8.18 per game.

Elijah Duval checks in at 14.09 points per game in conference play, good enough for ninth in the league.

Isaiah Cottrell leads the league in conference play with 20 total blocks since starting league play. Jaiden Feroah is third with 15.

The Thunderbirds are scoring just under 75 points per game in conference play, which is good enough for third in the conference, but are last in the league in points allowed at 78.

The SUU splash brothers, Dylan Jones and Tanner Hayhurst, have now both made at least 40 three-pointers on the year. Hayhurst is now averaging an even 10 points per game, and Jones is just behind him at 9.1.

Duval leads the team with 84 assists on the year and 28 steals. 

Feroah is climbing the ranks in the SUU single season record books, he is now eighth in blocks with 43 on the year and he is second in single-season FT% at 90%.

The Lancers

After losing their first three conference games, the CBU Lancers are currently on an eight-game winning streak and have catapulted themselves to the top of the conference standings. 

They have won their last two games by a combined three points, and the two games before that took overtime to decide a winner. 

The Lancers are led by preseason player of the year Dominique Daniels Jr who is scoring nearly 22 points per game. Daniels Jr. can be very inefficient, which will be key for the Thunderbirds in securing a win.

Martel Williams is the only other player averaging double-digits at 13.8 on the year. 

Four different Lancers have made at least 25 three-pointers on the year.
