The Thunderbirds
SUU is coming off two losses in a row inside the AFEC, and have their sights set on changing the momentum in Texas.
Against the Lancers last time out, Isaiah Cottrell finally broke out of his shooting slump this season and made four of his five three-point attempts on his way to leading the T-Birds with 24 points.
Elijah Duval took back the lead in points per game after scoring 14 points against CBU. He is averaging 13.7 on 45/31/60 percent shooting splits.
Jaiden Feroah is quite literally right behind him, averaging 13.6 points per game on 55/40/89 splits. Feroah also leads the team with 6.8 rebounds per game and has 44 blocks on the season.
The Thundebirds are the third-best team in the league in points per game, but are dead last in points allowed. Allowing teams to score nearly 80 points per game.
The T-birds will have to take care of the basketball and make every possession count if they want to be successful in Arlington.
The Mavericks
UT Arlington was in first place in the conference when they last played SUU, but since that win, the Mavericks have dropped four consecutive games and are now just two games ahead of SUU in the WAC standings.
UTA dropped an overtime game to CBU, and then lost a double OT game in St. George at Utah Tech, then they were in Orem and got beat pretty good by Utah Valley, and most recently they were playing Abilene Christian and lost 67-63.
The Mavericks are the second-best defensive team in the league, allowing opponents to score just 67 points per game, and they lead the entire NCAA in opponents' 3PT% at 23.3%.
Raysean Seamster and Marcell McCreary lead the Mavericks in what can be a high-powered offense. Both players average more than 13 points per game, and McCreary has 44 three-pointers on the year on 35% from deep.
Seamster also leads the team in rebounding with 6.7 per contest and has 38 steals and 21 blocks.
