ST. GEORGE, Utah — Southern Utah Softball continued the weekend by playing Utah for the second time in St. George. The Thunderbirds fell 4-0 and dropped to 7-12 on the season so far. The Thunderbirds will wrap up the weekend with the home-opening doubleheader tomorrow at noon against Weber State.
Taralyn Ollison and Kassidy Munoz secured the only hits for the Thunderbirds in the game. Starting pitcher Delaney Baker was tagged with the loss. Baker pitched four innings, giving up two runs on five hits, striking out one batter in the game.

"We didn't get the result we wanted today, but we're excited to get home and open Katherine Berg Field tomorrow. It's a big moment for our program, and we're ready to compete in front of our fans."
Game Summary
The Utes opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning on a two-run home run. Baker quickly neutralized the threat with a strikeout and groundout to prevent any further runs in the inning.
Utah threatened to score again in the bottom of the third inning with two runners reaching, but once again the T-Birds defense stood tall to keep the score at 2-0.
Southern Utah got its first baserunner of the game in the top of the fourth, when Taralyn Ollison singled up the middle, but the Thunderbirds were unable to advance her despite some solid contact on the ball.
Utah extended the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring two more runs to bring the score to 4-0. The next two innings went quietly to finish the game with the same score.

Home Opener
The Thunderbirds will open the new Katherine Berg Field on Sunday, March 1, with a ribbon-cutting at 11:45 a.m. MT. Southern Utah will then take on Weber State in a doubleheader beginning at noon to wrap up the weekend of competition.
