Previous Matchup

  • Back on January 15, the Thunderbirds earned their first conference win of the year in a ridiculous 106-105 overtime thriller over the Texans. Dylan Jones and Tanner Hayhurst both scored 20+ points, and Jaiden Feroah logged a massive 17 and nine to aid in the victory. Dior Johnson led the Texans with a ridiculous 40-point performance.

The Thunderbirds

Elijah Duval has been excellent for the T-Birds all year long, but he was monumental in the win over ACU. He scored 27 points on 11-13 from the field, he also grabbed seven rebounds and dished three assists on his way to earning WAC Newcomer of the Week honors.

Jaiden Feroah was perfect last time out. Going 8-8 from the field, along with seven rebounds, a helper, and a block.

In conference play, Feroah has been one of the most consistent performers through 10 games. He is fifth in the conference in scoring at 15.6 points per game, and second in the league in rebounding at 8.1 per contest. He also leads all players in FG%, shooting 60% from the floor.

Duval is up to 13.5 points per game for the season and grabs four rebounds per game, and leads the team with 77 assists and 26 steals.

Dylan Jones has made just one three-pointer in the last two games, but still leads the team with 44 on the year. Tanner Hayhurst is doing his best to catch up with 37. Hayhurst is also averaging double-digits now at an even 10 points per game.

The Texans

TSU is now 11-12 on the year and, after starting WAC play 2-1, has lost seven straight games. The Texans were at CBU on Thursday night, and despite leading in the second half, came away with a 55-56 loss.

The Texan's leading scorer, Dior Johnson, hasn't played since the loss at UT Arlington on January 21.

Cam McDowell has stepped up in a big way for TSU. Now averaging just under 14 points per game, and has scored in double figures in 14 of their last 15 games.

McDowell went for 24 points against the Thunderbirds the last time the teams faced off.

Freddy Hicks is the only other Texan averaging double figures in scoring.

The Texans force nearly 18 turnovers per game and turn them into 22 points on average.
