CEDAR CITY, Utah — The honors continue to roll in for the Flippin' Birds as two gymnasts in the program earned weekly recognition from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Junior Niya Randolph was named MPSF Gymnast of the Week, while freshman Berlin Hall earned MPSF Freshman of the Week honors.
Southern Utah has now accounted for 20 MPSF weekly awards this season, with seven different gymnasts receiving conference accolades. Both Randolph and Hall collect their sixth conference weekly award of the 2026 season, with Randolph's recognition marking the 16th weekly conference award of her career.
Head Coach Scotty Bauman Said
"Both Niya and Berlin had a tremendous week for us. Niya continues to show why she's one of the top all-arounders in the country. The way she responded after beam against Utah State and then came back with the kind of performance she had against Washington speaks to her toughness and leadership. Berlin has also been incredible for us all season. Putting up back-to-back 9.900s on floor in big moments shows the confidence she competes with, and she's become such an important part of that lineup. We're really proud of both of them and the impact they've had on our team this season."
Randolph delivered another outstanding week in the all-around for Southern Utah across two home meets. The Las Vegas native opened the week against Utah State Aggies women's gymnastics with a 9.800 on vault and a 9.825 on bars before rebounding from a fall on beam to post a solid 9.850 on floor, finishing with a 38.700 all-around score.
She followed with a historic performance in Southern Utah's win over the Washington Huskies women's gymnastics team, capturing the all-around title with a 39.575 while also winning vault (9.900), bars (9.925), and floor. Randolph capped the night with a Southern Utah program-record 9.975 on floor, which ranks as the second-highest floor score in MPSF history. Her routine helped power the Flippin' Birds to a 49.525 floor rotation, the second-highest floor score in both program and conference history. Across the two meets, Randolph recorded seven scores of 9.800 or higher, including three marks of 9.900 or better against Washington.
Hall continued her strong freshman campaign with back-to-back standout performances on floor exercise. The Gilbert, Arizona native posted two scores of 9.900 during the week, beginning with a floor title against Utah State, where she solidified the rotation for Southern Utah.
She followed with another 9.900 against Washington, finishing third in a loaded lineup and helping the Flippin' Birds produce a 49.525 floor rotation, the second-highest event score in program history and the second-best score in MPSF history. Hall's pair of 9.900 performances provided a key spark as Southern Utah posted team scores of 195.725 and 196.900 during the week.
