Duncan Named WAC Pitcher of the Week

Southern Utah Softball is Presented by Jennifer Davis ERA Realty

CEDAR CITY, Utah — After a standout performance in the Loyola Marymount Tournament, Southern Utah pitcher Hannah Duncan has been named the WAC Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Associate Head Coach and Pitching Coach Taylor McQuillin Said

"I'm so proud of Hannah. I knew there was something special about her craft and who she could become as a pitcher before this season. She's shown exactly how dynamic she truly is since becoming a T-Bird. She's been a tremendous addition to this pitching staff and has found comfort in competing in all moments. She's an asset to this team in many ways and continues to show up and prove why she can compete against any team in the country. She's earned this accolade, and I know it's just the start to how bright the future is for her."

Duncan was dominant in the circle for the Southern Utah Thunderbirds softball team over the weekend in Los Angeles, helping the team to a strong showing at the LMU Tournament. Across three appearances, Duncan posted a 1–0 record with one save, allowing just one earned run over 11.1 innings while striking out 15 batters.

Her weekend was highlighted by a strong outing against Loyola Marymount, where she tossed six innings and allowed just one run while striking out seven to earn the win in Southern Utah's 3–1 victory. She followed that performance with three shutout innings and four strikeouts against the Portland State Vikings softball to secure the save in a 3–2 Thunderbird win.

Duncan closed the weekend with another impressive relief appearance against LMU, striking out four batters in 2.1 scoreless innings while surrendering just one hit.

On the season, Duncan has thrown 63 innings with 48 strikeouts and a 3.89 ERA, while continuing to be one of the most reliable arms on the Thunderbirds' pitching staff.

The weekly honor marks a key recognition for Duncan after her performance helped Southern Utah finish the tournament weekend 3–1 as the team prepares to enter conference play on Friday.
