CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District teams have been announced, and three SUU Women's Basketball student-athletes found themselves amongst the honorees. Sierra Chambers, Ashley Banks, and Morgan Trigueiro all received recognition, with Chambers named a finalist for the highly prestigious CSC Academic All-American award.
Head Coach Tracy Mason said
"I'm very proud of what these ladies have accomplished academically while competing at a high level. It's a testament to who they are as people. They hold themselves to a very high standard both on the court and in the classroom."
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Nominees must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
These accomplishments are even more impressive when considering the outstanding success of the SUU Women's Basketball team this season. The T-Birds accumulated 19 wins and were an unbelievable 13-1 inside the America First Event Center. The program received numerous weekly awards and a few postseason conference awards.
Ashley Banks was the lone senior on the team and played in all 32 games for the Thunderbirds. True freshman Morgan Trigueiro led the team in 3FG%, shooting an excellent 44.8% from deep on the year. Sophomore point guard Sierra Chambers was named to the All-Conference Second-Team after leading the team in scoring at 14.8 points per game and assists with nearly four per game.
Chambers being named a finalist for the CSC All-American Academic award is an amazing accomplishment. There are over 30,000 nominations annually, and just 66 student-athletes will be selected to make the All-American team.
