Thunderbirds Send Three to the NCAA T&F First Round

CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The 2026 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field West First Round will be held at the University of Arkansas on May 27-30. The Thunderbirds had three student-athletes qualify for the first round: Jaylee Gandert and Bronis MacDougall in the javelin, and Isley Gutierrez in the 110M hurdles.


Head Coach Eric Houle said

"These three student-athletes are incredibly deserving and have worked extremely hard to be at the NCAA West First Round. They are well prepared and I have no doubt that they will give it everything they have."

When: MacDougall - Wednesday 3/26, at 2:00 p.m., Gandert - Thursday 3/27, at 2:00 p.m., Gutierrez - Prelim on Wednesday 3/26, at 6:00 p.m.

Last Time Out

Jaylee Gandert and Bronis MacDougall each claimed the Western Athletic Conference title in the Javelin throw. Gandert threw for 156 feet and 1 inch, and MacDougall crushed the competition with a 221-foot 2-inch throw. Besting the field by over 20 feet.

Isley Gutierrez finished second in the 110M hurdles with a 13.88 run. 

Both MacDougall and Gandert have multiple wins in the javelin this season, and Guttierez has continued to get faster as the season has progressed.
