CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The SUU Women's Soccer team is set to open the 2026 campaign with an East Coast trip, beginning at College of Charleston on August 12.

Head Coach Steven Lindquist said

"We are just eager to get the season started. We had two really good exhibition games last week, and the team is ready to get after it and compete!"

The Thunderbirds

In the Thunderbirds' two exhibition matches, they earned quality results versus Mountain West opponent Air Force, and Utah State Eastern.

Freshman goalkeeper Tatum Trout was solid in the goal for SUU, and the backline proved that they were going to be the strength of the 2026 squad.

In the exhibition against Utah State Eastern, the Thunderbirds earned four goals, each from a different player. Madeline Buczyna, Dakota Hansen, Gracen Blieschke, and Bridget Guevara all found the back of the net.

The Thunderbirds have proved that they are a team to watch out for this season.

The Cougars

Bella Antonio and Maggie Heffernan are the players to watch for the Cougars. Both athletes were tabbed as 2026 Preseason All-American CAA Honorable Mention selections, and both are the top-scoring returners from a season ago, with five goals apiece.

College of Charleston is coming off an 8-6-3 record a season ago.
