A first-team all-state performer as a tight end his senior season for Coach Steve North at Wasatch High School ... caught 50 passes for 614 yards as a senior ... also played defensive end where he totaled 53 tackles with five sacks as a senior ... helped his team to a region championship his senior year when the Wasps made it to the state semi-finals, was named team's most inspirational player ... was also an all-region performer in basketball, helped team to a runner-up finish in the state tourney. At SUU, 2011: Played in all 11 games with nine starts at defensive end, finished season second among defensive linemen with 27 tackles, 13 solo, including 4.5 tackels for loss and three sacks. Was also credited with two quarterback hurries. Had 1.5 sacks in the season-finale at Northern Arizona. Tallied a season-high five tackles at UNLV, including four solo stops, and five total tackles vs. UTSA.
At SUU, 2010: Played in all 11 games with eight starts at bull end. Tallied 19 tackles, 11 solo, with 2.5 sacks, three tackles-for loss and a quarterback hurry. Also forced one fumble and recovered two more. Forced and recovered a fumble vs. NAU, high tackle game was at UC Davis where he tallied five stops, two solo, including a solo sack.
At SUU, 2009: Appeared in seven games at defensive tackle, finished with nine stops, three solo, with a pass break-up and a quarterback hurry. Had a season-high five tackles vs. North Dakota.
At SUU, 2008: Spent the season as a redshirt. Tallied three tackles and had a quarterback hurry in the 2009 spring game.
