Kyle Cottam was hired as the Assistant Sports Information Director in January of 2007.  His initial responsibilities included men's and women's cross country, women's soccer, women's basketball, gymnastics, men's and women's indoor track & field, baseball and men's and women's outdoor track & field.  His current responsibilities include serving as the primary contact for women's volleyball, gymnastics and softball while overseeing an intern for cross country and track & field.  Cottam is also the primary statistician for the football and basketball programs.

While at Southern Utah University, Cottam headed the relaunch of suutbirds.com in the Summer of 2011 and served as the Media Relations contact for the 2009 Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships, 2009 Summit League Cross Country Championships and the 2007 Western Athletic Conference Gymnastics Championships.  Cottam has also helped to extend the multimedia aspect of SUU Athletics with the creation of a youtube channel (SUUAthletics) and hosting a weekly coaches' show that is aired on KCSG, a local television station.

Prior to coming to Cedar City, Cottam worked as the Assistant Sports Information Director and as a graduate assistant at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind.  His responsibilities included women's soccer, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track & field.  Cottam served as an assistant media relations contact for the 2005 NCAA Cross Country National Championships and then as the Media Relations Coordinator for the 2006 NCAA Cross Country National Championships during his time with the Sycamores.

Cottam graduated from Brigham Young University in 2004, working two years in the athletic media relations office with the men's and women's swimming and diving teams.  He was awarded a CoSIDA publications award for his work on the 2002 men's and women's swimming and diving guide.

Cottam and his wife, Meaghan, currently reside in Cedar City.
