Ben Macey is in his second year on the Thunderbird staff, his first as a defensive assistant after serving last year as a volunteer coach in the program.

This season Coach Macey is working primarily with the secondary but also spends time with the linebackers and defensive line.

Macey is a 2011 graduate of Utah State University, where he played one season at wide receiver after transferring from Utah, where he was a two-year letterman at quarterback and receiver.

Macey, who earned his degree in business administration, was a Whiteside Scholar-Athlete at USU and a member of the honors program at Utah.

A native of Logan, Utah, Macey earned first-team all-State honors in Utah’s 4A classification after leading Logan High School to a runner-up finish at the state championship his senior season. He was also named his region’s MVP that season.

Coach Macey is single and resides in Cedar City.
