Chima Chindah

Chima Chindah is a football coach known for his expertise in developing defensive backs. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Chima Chindah's passion for football was ignited during his time at Crenshaw High School, where he played under the guidance of Coach Robert Garrett.

After graduating from high school, Chindah pursued his football career at Los Angeles Southwest, playing for Coach Henry Washington. Recognizing his talent and dedication, Chima Chindah was later recruited to Fresno State University, where he walked on and played for Coach Pat Hill.

Following his playing career, Chima Chindah transitioned into coaching, embarking on a journey in mentoring young athletes. In 2008, he began his coaching career at Santee High School, assuming the role of Defensive Backs coach. His expertise in developing defensive backs led him back to his alma mater, Crenshaw High School, where he served as the Defensive Backs coach from 2009 to 2013.

Chindah's coaching prowess expanded further as he took on various coaching roles at different institutions. He worked as the Defensive Backs coach at Los Angeles Southwest in 2016, and the following year, he joined Leuzinger High School as the Defensive Coordinator. In 2018, he took on the role of Offensive Coordinator at Leuzinger High School.

Continuing his journey in the coaching world, Chima Chindah joined Reedley College in 2019, where he mentored the Defensive Backs. His skills and knowledge were further recognized as he became a volunteer coach at the prestigious University of Alabama in 2021.

In 2022, Chima Chindah's career took him to the University of Hawaii, where he served as an assistant coach, contributing to the development of the team's defensive strategy. Later that same year, he joined the coaching staff at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) as a Defensive Analyst.

In 2023, Chindah's journey led him to Southern Utah, where he assumed the role of Cornerbacks coach. His extensive experience and dedication to the sport have made him a highly respected figure in the football coaching community. Chima Chindah's passion for football and commitment to mentoring athletes have left a lasting impact on the teams and players he has worked with throughout his career.

Durining the 2023 campaign his first season with SUU, Chindah helped the Thunderbirds to achieve a 6-5 record, the first winning season since 2017 for Southern Utah. Additionally Chindah has coached several players last season who received accolades from the United Athletic Conference.Â
