Biography

At SUU, 2011: Joined the Thunderbirds in January and participated in spring drills. Spent the season as a redshirt.

Prior to SUU: Earned two letters at Snow College. Last year he caught 26 passes for 438 yards and two touchdowns and also excelled on special teams, blocking three kicks and a punt, during his career he blocked four field goals and a punt. Played on both sides of the ball, tallying 27 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and breaking up seven passes from his free safety position during his career. Biggest block of his career came in the 2008 junior college national championship game when he blocked a field goal in double-overtime to secure the win. He also helped the Badgers to a 2010 Top of the Mountain Bowl win.

Personal: Prepped at Layton HS, where he was a three-year letter-winner in football, basketball and track. Helped Coach Jim Batchelor's Lancers to a playoff appearance his junior year and a state title as a senior when he earned all-state honors and was named MVP of the state championship game. Was an all-area performer in football all three years. Tallied 386 rushing, 1,158 receiving and 506 return yards during his prep career, also had 98 tackles, six sacks, 11 interceptions and broke up 14 passes. Won region championships on the track in the 100- and 200-m, as well as on the 4x100 relay team and in the long jump. Parents are Amy Putnam and Paul Putnam. Plans to major in physical education with an emphasis in kinesiology.
