At SUU, 2006: Joined the Thunderbirds last fall, finished fourth among linebackers in total tackles with 17, also forced a fumble. Best game was at Southern Illinois, where he had four stops, including one solo.

At Palomar College: Earned all-Mission Conference honors and was a four-time Mission Conference Player of the Week last year when he tallied 84 tackles with a sack and eight passes broken up. Also forced a pair of fumbles and recovered two more.

Personal: Prepped at Oceanside HS in Oceanside, Calif., where he helped the Pirates to a CIF San Diego Section Division II championship his senior season. Notched over 100 tackles as a senior when he also had a sack and an interception, broke up five passes and recovered four fumbles. Was named Player of the Week by the North County Times following the CIF championship game. Also lettered in baseball, earning all-Avocado League recognition. Parents are Melenorina and John Bala. Majoring in physical education.
