Megan Kelling

Megan Kelling joins Southern Utah University Athletics as the Director of Compliance, bringing more than 20 years of experience in collegiate athletics, coaching, leadership, and student-athlete development.

A native of Annandale, Minnesota, Kelling was a standout multi-sport athlete before earning a basketball scholarship to the University of North Dakota. During her three seasons at UND, she helped the program to multiple conference championships and an NCAA Division II National Runner-Up finish.

Kelling transitioned into collegiate coaching early in her career, serving at Iowa Lakes Community College before returning to UND as an assistant coach for six seasons. In addition to on-court development, she handled responsibilities in recruiting, academic monitoring, video coordination, and program operations, building a strong foundation in organization, communication, and policy-driven decision making.

For the past 15 years, Kelling has remained actively involved in athletics and community leadership, coaching youth and high school football and basketball and serving in sports ministry. Her work with student-athletes, families, and administrators has strengthened her ability to support compliance, education, and institutional integrity.

Kelling’s diverse background as an athlete, coach, and mentor makes her well-suited to assist the Thunderbirds student-athletes with NCAA and institutional compliance. She and her husband, John, live in Cedar City with their two sons, Everett and Colt.
