Kenya Crandell

Kenya Crandell is in his fourth year on the Southern Utah staff after joining the Thunderbirds in the summer of 2008.
    Coach Crandell has 15 years of coaching experience, including two as associate head coach at Nebraska-Omaha, where he spent a total of six seasons on staff. During his time at UNO, Coach Crandell helped the Mavericks to a 116-65 overall record and three NCAA Division II national tournament berths. His teams also had nine players named to all-conference teams, including a Most Valuable Player, and the Mavericks also had a Newcomer of the Year in addition to a Freshman of the Year.
    A native of Omaha, Neb., Coach Crandell has also spent time on the staffs at Sacramento State, Northern Colorado and his alma mater, Nebraska-Kearney, where he started as a graduate assistant before being promoted to full-time status.
    A four-year starter at Nebraska-Kearney, Coach Crandell set the school record for assists (525) and also finished his career second on the UNK all-time steals list (173). When he ended his career he was also 19th on the Antelopes’ all-time scoring list, with 1,119 points. A team captain, he was named the team’s MVP his senior season.
    Coach Crandell graduated form Nebraska-Kearney in 1996 with a degree in communication. He also holds a master’s degree in sports administration from UNK.
