Richard Church

Richard Church is in his 21st season as head golf coach at Southern Utah University and his 25th as a member of the SUU golf staff. Church served as the SUU assistant coach for four seasons prior to taking over from former Coach John Evans in the fall of 2000. 

During his tenure as head or assistant coach at SUU, Church has coached 26 Academic All-Americans, 45 All-Conference players, five conference players of the year, one Mid-Continent Conference medalist, two Mid-Con runners-up,  two Big Sky conference runner-ups, a Summit League runner-up and five men and one woman NCAA post-season competitors in golf. Church has coached the Thunderbirds to eight 2nd place finishes in the Summit League and Big Sky Conference Championships.

A 1989 graduate of the University of Utah, Church owns and operates a Motel near Bryce Canyon National Park. He has overseen the establishment of the Lynn M. Leany Men's Golf Endowment Fund and has been active in numerous political campaigns, both in Utah and in Washington D.C.

Church and his wife, Cheryl, are the parents of four children (Justin, Kyle, Josh and Breanne) and 15 grandchildren.
