Paul Limpf was named the assistant distance coach in July of 2014, joining the Southern Utah cross country and track and field family from Eastern Washington. He is entering his fifth full year with the program.
Limpf has been an integral part of Southern Utah’s recruiting efforts since joining the program, and assisted in leading the Thunderbirds to their first Big Sky Conference Championship title since joining the conference.
As a volunteer assistant distance coach at Eastern Washington Limpf developed workouts for the 5K and 10K athletes, and during his time with the program four athletes moved into Eastern Washington’s all-time top 10 in those distances. Â
Limpf was also a very successful athlete for the Eagles. He made an appearance at the 2008 NCAA Cross Country National Championships, where he finished in the top third of the field. During that same season he finished fourth at the Big Sky Conference Championships and sixth at the Notre Dame Invitational.
Limpf was a three time All-Conference performer in cross country. Â
Limpf also had success during the outdoor track seasons while at Eastern Washington, recording the second=best time in school history in the 5K and the 10K. He earned First Team All-Conference honors in 2009 in the 5K at the Conference Championships and was a two-time NCAA Regional qualifier.
Limpf graduated from Eastern Washington with a degree in social studies education and a minor in philosophy. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Sports Conditioning and Performance from SUU.
