Diana Phillips will enter her first season as an assistant coach with SUU softball when the team takes to the diamond in 2011.

Phillips came to Southern Utah University, following coaching stints at Colorado Northwest Community College, Salt Lake Community College, the University of Utah and Taylorsville High School.  Phillips served as an assistant at each institution, most recently as the top assistant at CNCC.

Prior to coaching, Phillips was a four-time all-conference and two-time all-region performer on the softball field for the University of Utah.  Phillips was a four-year starter in center field for the Utes and led the team from the plate three of four years.  During her junior and senior years, Phillips hit close to the .400 mark, leading the team in hits, doubles, triples and stolen bases.  During her sophomore season the Utes captured the Mountain West Conference tournament title, advancing to the NCAA regionals.

Phillips graduated from the University of Utah in 2008 with a degree in accounting.
