Trevor Matuszak joined the Southern Utah University track and field program in the middle of the 2013-14 seaon, serving as assistant coach over throws and handling other duties as assigned. 

Before coming to Southern Utah, Matuszak served as a graduate assistant coach over throws at Lake Erie College from 2011 to 2013. There he helped coach the Storm throwers to more than 20 individual school records, three all-region individual finishes and five all-conference individual finishes. He also earned a master’s degree in business during his time at Lake Erie and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist.

Matuszak began his career in collegiate sports as an athlete at Defiance College, where he became a two-time USTFCCCA Division III All-American in 2008, with second-place national finishes in both the indoor weight throw and outdoor hammer throw. He also earned two individual titles in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and was named Great Lakes Region Athlete of the Year. He graduated from Defiance College in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.

A native of Ottawa Lake, Mich., Matuszak now resides in Cedar City.
