Ryan Conan

In 2021-22 Ryan Conan was named a full-time assistant coach with the Southern Utah
University track & field program, after spending the last 4 seasons as a part-time
assistant/volunteer coach for the Thunderbirds focusing on Jumps and multis. In his role
with the Thunderbirds, Coach Conan specializes in sprints, horizontal jumps, high jump
and relays.

Coach Conan finished the 2022-23 season at SUU in Historic fashion. His athletes Set
11 School records, 53 top 10 marks, and multiple person bests. During the outdoor
season he coached two individual athletes to NCAA All-American status in the Men’s
triple jump With Astley Davis finishing in 8th place at the Division 1 NCAA
Championships for 1st team All-American status and in the Men’s long jump with Cedar
English finishing in 22nd for Honorable mention All-American Status. He also Coached
5 athletes to appearances at the NCAA West preliminary round in the men’s long jump,
men’s triple jump, men’s 400m, women’s Long Jump and women's High Jump. At the
outdoor WAC championships his group consisting of sprinters and Jumpers scored a
combined 78 points with 1st place finishes from Astley Davis in the men’s Triple jump,
Jentry Skidmore in the Women’s LJ and the Men’s 4x400 (Dylan Gibson, Nelson
Douglas, Nick Pembroke, Jayden Carpenter). His Group broke multiple SUU Outdoor
School records in the Men’s Triple Jump (Astley Davis; 16.17m/53 ft 0.5in), Men’s
400m (Jaedyn Carpenter; 46.30), Men’s 4x400m (3:07.98; Dylan Gibson, Nelson
Douglas, Ashton Miller, Jaedyn Carpenter), Men’s 4x100 (40.12; Cameron Beans,
Ricardo White, Nelson Douglas, Noah Bringhurst), Women’s 200m (Secret McEuen;
23.96) and Women’s 4x100m (45.88; Maya Benjamin, Iana-Michovani Graham, Ronnie
Walker, Secret McEuen). During the indoor season his group scored 75 points at the

WAC indoor Championships with 2 athletes winning Individual WAC championship titles
in the Men’s High Jump (Joren Mckeever) and Men’s Triple Jump (Astley Davis) and a
title in the Women’s 4x400m (Secret McEuen, Jentry Skidmore, Seadra Hamilton, Maya
Benjamin) and 3 other athletes earning All-conference honors as well. His athletes set 4
school records in the Men’s Long jump (Cedar English; 7.34m/24 ft. 0.75 in), Men’s
Triple Jump (Astley Davis; 15.47m/50 ft. 9.25 in), Women’s 200m (Secret McEuen;
23.93) and Women’s 4x400m (3:45.09; Secret McEuen, Jentry Skidmore, Seadra
Hamilton, Maya Benjamin).

In the 2022 outdoor season Coach Conan had 1 NCAA All-American in Lizzie White
(Women’s Long Jump; 6.34m/20 ft. 9.5 in) and 4 NCAA West Preliminary Round
qualifiers in the Women’s Long Jump, Men’s and Women’s High Jump and the men’s
200m. At the 2022 Big Sky Conference Indoor and Outdoor Championships Coach
Conan’s group accounted for 2 Gold medals and 6 top-3 finishes, and 13 conference
scorers. In 2022 his athlete’s set 7 school records, 20 SUU top-10 Performances and
multiple personal bests.

The 2020-21 season also saw success for coach Conan and his jumpers, with multiple
athletes placing in the top-10 in SUU History, 1 Big Sky Conference Champion
(Women’s Long Jump) and 2 All-conference athletes and 1 athlete Qualifying for the
NCAA Regional meet in the Men’s HJ. In the 2019 Coach Conan took over the Jumps
and Multi’s program. In his first season as a coach he helped Frank Harris to an NCAA
All-American status in the Men’s HJ and an All-time SUU record of 2.21m/7ft 3in, as
well as a Big Sky conference title in the same event.

Coach Conan graduated from SUU with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science in
2017 and a Master’s degree in Sports Conditioning and Performance in 2020. As an
athlete, Coach Conan competed for the Thunderbirds as an All-conference
sprinter/hurdler. Coach Conan is married to Britne Conan and they have one daughter.
