Shaye Springall

Shaye Springall is an accomplished coach and former track and field athlete with a remarkable career in the sport. She joined the Southern Utah University (SUU) coaching staff in 2016 and has been serving as the director of operations for the track and field team.

Shaye's journey in track and field began as a student-athlete at SUU, where she competed in multi-events and hurdles. She excelled in various disciplines and emerged as a standout athlete for the Thunderbirds. Her remarkable performances earned her numerous accolades and honors throughout her collegiate career.

During her time at SUU, Shaye displayed exceptional talent and dedication, which led to her receiving several notable awards. In 2010, she was honored as the Summit League Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Newcomer of the Championship. In 2011, she became an NCAA All-Academic Women's Track and Field National team member. Shaye's success continued to soar as she earned the title of Big Sky Conference Championship Women's Track and Field MVP of the Meet in 2014, scoring an impressive 34 points.

Shaye's prowess in the 60m hurdles was particularly remarkable. She became the Big Sky Conference Champion in the 60m hurdles in 2014 and held both the Big Sky Conference All-time record and the Championship record in the event. Her talent also extended to other disciplines, as she achieved top rankings in the Big Sky Conference for the Pentathlon, 60m hurdles, 55m hurdles, 100m hurdles, 60m, and heptathlon.

Not only did Shaye excel at the collegiate level, but she also made her mark on the international stage. In 2014, she achieved an impressive ranking of 65th in the world in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.19.

After graduating from SUU with a Finance degree in 2014, Shaye continued to pursue her athletic career. She qualified for the 2017 USA Indoor National Championships in the 60m hurdles, solidifying her position as a formidable competitor.

In addition to her athletic achievements, Shaye has also contributed significantly to the success of the Southern Utah track and field team in her role as director of operations. She has been instrumental in organizing meets and securing opportunities for athletes to compete in prestigious events such as the Mt. SAC Relays and the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.

Off the track, Shaye is happily married to Brent Springall, who was a coach at SUU from 2012 to 2021. Together, they have two daughters named Roxana and Phoebe.

With her extensive experience as both an athlete and a coach, Shaye Springall continues to inspire and guide the next generation of track and field athletes at Southern Utah University. Her dedication, expertise, and passion for the sport make her a valuable asset to the Thunderbird program.
