Dr. Andrea Wieland, sports psychologist, is no stranger to high performance. As a former Division I Coach, Division I associate athletic director, and world-class athlete, she brings decades of performance and health experience to SUU student-athletes, their coaches, and staff. A 1996 Olympian with a 12-year stint on Team USA as a field hockey goalkeeper, she recently authored The Confident Performer: Rethinking Mental Performance for Athletes, Coaches, and Parents (Wieland, 2025) to prepare the entire performance ecosystem for best-in-class performance and wellness.
A two-time DI All-American, DI national championship coach, and sports leader, she has worked at renowned institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania, University of Iowa, University of Maryland, Dartmouth College, IMG Academy, and the United States Air Force Academy. Andrea has also been an entrepreneur for over 30 years, owning and operating Winning Systems Psychology, PC (DrAndreaWieland.com). Andrea has coached and supported thousands of athletes, coaches, parents, leaders, and teams in living their better to best versions of themselves. In sport, academics, work, and life. Andrea invites the entire performance ecosystem to take a deep dive together to win the ultimate game of self-mastery and confidence ownership. She provides the blueprint for becoming a force for good, serving humanity and the planet.
For fun, she enjoys hiking, road cycling, mountain biking, improv comedy, learning piano, riding, and working with her two horses and her mini-Aussie Doodle, who you may just get to meet on campus.
