Southern Utah University Athletics

Kale Nelson found his love for both sports and journalism during high school in his hometown of Las Vegas. Choosing Southern Utah University for the educational experience it provides, he quickly found involvement in as many communication roles as possible.

He served as a sports reporter and an editor-in-chief with the SUU News organization, producing daily website articles and quarterly editions of the University Journal. During this time, Nelson started volunteering with SUU Athletics and took a role as Sports Information Assistant at the Utah Summer Games, covering the summer-long Olympic-style event.

Following his role with SUU News, Nelson accepted a position in sports information with SUU Athletics, providing him with an opportunity to combine his love of sports with his passion for writing and communicating. Serving as a sports information intern, he has extensively covered cross country and women’s basketball as well as live tweeting and taking statistics for a variety of sports.
