"Kayla Kovar joined Southern Utah University as an Athletic Academic Advisor and Tutor Coordinator at the end of August in 2021. In February of 2022, Kovar also took on the roles of Student Athlete Development Coordinator and Co-Advisor for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAC). Starting in the Fall of 22 she was named the Director of Athletic Academic Performance. She oversees all tutoring that occurs in the Athletic Academic Center as well as advises athletes on women’s basketball, men’s/women’s cross country, gymnastics, soccer, softball, men’s/women’s track and field, and volleyball.

As a former Thunderbird athlete, Kovar was a member of the women’s track and field team from 2011-2015. During Kovar’s athletic career at SUU she garnered four Second-Team All-American accolades and was named Mountain Region Women’s Field Athlete of the Year in 2014 by the USTFCCCA. Kovar was also a three time NCAA DI Academic All-American. She graduated from Southern Utah University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Human Performance: Coaching Emphasis.

Currently, Kovar is pursuing an online Master of Science in Sport Psychology from Capella University and is an active member of the NSLS."
