SHREVEPORT, La., Jan. 22 ? Centenary was red-hot in the first half Thursday night while Southern Utah was ice cold and the result was an 81-56 Summit League win for the Gentlemen.
Southern Utah hit just two of its first 12 shots and Centenary hit 9-of-14 to start the game, as the Gents built a 20-8 advantage eight minutes in.
Things got worse from there for the Thunderbirds.
A 15-5 Centenary run carried the Gents to a 48-18 advantage and they wound up with a 55-22 lead at halftime after hitting 22-of-31 shots (71 percent) in the first half while holding the Thunderbirds to 24.2 percent (7-29), their worst half of the season.
The Gents coasted from there in sending the Thunderbirds to their 13th loss of the season as SUU saw its Summit League record evened at 4-4 (6-13 overall).
Centenary, which was playing just its third home game of the season, won its third straight to even its conference record at 4-4 (6-14 overall).
SUU wound up avoiding its worst shooting night of the season by connecting on 10-of-23 in the second half, but still wound up at 32.7 percent, its second-worst effort of the season. Centenary, meanwhile cooled off to 56.9 percent for the game after hitting 7-of-20 shots in the second period.
Tyler Quinney led Southern Utah with 12 points while
Davis Baker added 11 but they were the only T-Birds in double figures.
The guard tandem of Chase Adams and Nick Stallings did most of the damage for Centenary, combining to hit 16-of-21 shots and 7-of-9 3-pointers. Adams led the Gents with 22 points, connecting on 8-of-11 shots and 4-of-5 threes while Stallings finished with 21, hitting 8-of-10 shots and 3-of-4 threes.

Roger Reid said. “Our team isn't a great team, but Centenary took away any margin of error for us. It always helps when you can hit every shot too.”
