CEDAR CITY, Utah - March 23 - Southern Utah gymnastics can punch its
tickets to Fayetteville, Arkansas after being named as one of six teams
to compete in the South Central Region meet, hosted by the University
of Arkansas on April 4. The event marks the second year in a row that
the Thunderbirds have qualified on the NCAA Region level as a team.
Southern Utah has qualified as the fifth seed in the region and will compete against Stanford, Arkansas, Michigan, Arizona and Arizona State. The top two teams from the meet will then move on to the NCAA National Championships on April 16. Individual athletes will also have the chance to qualify for nationals, should the team not advance, by winning an event or finishing as one of the top two gymnasts not associated with a team that is advancing.
The Thunderbirds are one of only two schools from the state to advance to the regional level as a team this year.
More information on the meet will be released as the event draws closer.
