The Aggies also had a decisive advantage at the free throw line, receiving 22 trips to the free throw line, compared to SUU's eight as a number of Thunderbirds were forced to play most of the second half in foul trouble.

Sophomore forward Tayler Anderson grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds while Pascucci and Sears each recorded seven boards for SUU who finished with a 46-35 rebound advantage.

Southern Utah opened game with a 7-0 run as senior guard Kaila Goff scoring the game's first five points and Pascucci later added a bucket. A pair of Pascucci free throws at the 5:10 mark matched SUU's largest lead of the half, 32-24 but the Aggies closed the half with a 10-3 run to cut the Thunderbirds' lead to 35-34 at the half.

Jackson opened the second half with a long three from the top of the key to ignite an 8-3 run to extend their lead 43-36. Utah State would hit a couple free throws before Sears hit a three from the left corner to give SUU an eight-point lead with just over five minutes into the second half.

The Aggies again answered, going on a 7-0 run, taking advantage of their 6'6" center Banna Diop and receiving a number of trips to the line to cut the SUU lead to one before tying the game at 52-52 with 7:29 left on the clock.
