FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Oct. 15 - Southern Utah's Cameron Levins led the pack in
Arkansas with a first-place finish at the Chile Pepper Cross Country
Invitational, helping the men's team to a sixth-place finish in a field of 32
teams. The women finished 10th in a field of 35 teams.
“This was a really good meet for us,” head coach Eric Houle
said. “To be able to rank among some of the top teams in the nation really
shows the strength of our athletes and program.”
Levins crossed the finish line with a 10k time of 29:13.8, about
eight seconds faster than second-place runner Colby Lowe from Oklahoma State.
Nate Jewkes came next for the Thunderbirds, finishing 16th with a time of
30:11.5. He was followed by Devan Antczak (31:05.2) in 55th place and Clinton
Rhoton (31:21.7) in 73rd place. John Hart (31:34.4) rounded out the scoring
members of the team with an 85th-place finish.
Diana Medina-Mitchell led the women with a 22nd-place finish
in the 6k and a time of 21:06.6. She was followed by Jamie Smith in 46th place
with a time of 21:47.4. Madalyn Jones (22:22.3) and Armarose Bailey (22:26.5)
finished consecutively in 86th and 87th place, followed closely by Ashley Gray
(22:31.0) in 94th place.
The Thunderbirds will finish the regular season in two weeks
when they travel to Tulsa, Okla. to compete in the Summit League Cross Country
Championship on Oct. 29, hosted by Oral Roberts.
