Southern Utah University gymnastics will host San Jose State on Friday night, looking to remain undefeated in Western Athletic Conference action. The Thunderbirds will enter the meet with a perfect 3-0 mark in the WAC with victories over CS-Fullerton, Utah State and Sacramento State.
SUU will be without the talents of Lindsey Schultz during the meet which will mean line-up changes for the 'Birds on vault and floor. Schultz is among the leaders on both events, but will be interviewing with physician assistant schools this weekend.
The meet for San Jose will mark the first of four road meets for the Spartans over the final month of their season. Southern Utah will be on the other side of the coin with three of its final five meets at home in the Centrum Arena.
About San Jose State: San Jose State will enter the meet on Friday with an overall record of 8-3 and a mark of 1-0 in the WAC.
The Spartans have been led on the year by Thomasina Wallace who has recorded a 9.900 or higher on all four events. The senior has tallied season highs of 9.900 on vault, bars and beam and a 9.925 on the floor exercise en route to a 39.325 in the all-around.
She has been complimented by fellow senior Lily Swann who has recorded a career-high 39.175 in the all-around this season.
Food fight: SUU gymnastics, in conjuction with SAAC, will host its annual “food fight” night on Friday and is encouraging community members to bring non-perishable food tems for donation.
