SUU Gymnastics Continues Season on the Road at CS-Fullerton on Friday

About the Meet:  Southern Utah University gymnastics will head back to the location where the team captured its first conference championship in 2010 when the Thunderbirds face Cal State Fullerton on Friday night.

Southern Utah will enter the meet ranked No. 22 in the country and with one of the top floor teams as the squad ranks No. 7 this year.

The Thunderbirds have yet to lose to a Western Athletic Conference opponent this season with victories over Utah State and Sacramento State already under their belt.  The meet with Fullerton will be the first of two conference meets over the next two weeks for the T-Birds.

Fans can follow the meet via live stats online at www.suutbirds.com.  A live video stream will not be available for the meet.

Head Coach Scott Bauman's Thoughts:  “Competing on the road brings its challenges, like the crowd noise and where you spot on skills.  But, the equipment is the same and really shouldn't make that much of a difference when it comes down to it.”

About Cal State Fullerton:  The Titans will be competing in only their third meet of the season on Friday, having already suffered defeats against UC Davis and Boise State.  CSF have tallied team scores of 186.125 and 189.175 in the two losses.

Despite the lower scores, Fullerton has been strongest on the vault, averaging a team-best 47.713 on the apparatus.  The Titans have struggled the most on the uneven bars, scoring 45.500 and 46.725 in the two meets this season.

Senior Alaina Baker has been the most consistent for the Titans, hitting 8-of-8 routines this year, including a team-best 9.800 on the floor exercise last week.
