Heather Black Named to College Sports Madness First-Team

CEDAR CITY, Utah - Jan. 13 - Southern Utah University pitcher Heather Black has been named to the first team of the College Sports Madness Summit League preseason team. Black joins UMKC's Deanna Friese and North Dakota State's Whitney Johnson has first-team pitchers.

Black was SUU's ace in 2011 throwing a team-high 230.2 innings in 46 appearances, including 34 starts. She earned 18 victories during the year and finished with a 3.28 ERA and 188 strikeouts - third best in the Summit League.

SUU softball will begin its 2012 season on February 11 when the Thunderbirds face Utah Valley in St. George. For the complete College Sports Madness team please visit www.collegesportsmadness.com.
