CEDAR CITY, Utah - Jan. 31 - SUU's Cameron Levins and Diana Medina-Mitchell have earned conference recognition after competing in the 3,000-meters and 5,000-meters at the UW Invitational last weekend.
Levins raced to a first-place finish in both events, recording NCAA automatic qualifying times of 13:42.90 in the 5,000-meters and 7:48.25 in the 3,000-meters. Levins' 3,000-meter time ranks first in the nation and set a new SUU record, while his 5,000-meter time ranks second in the nation. Both times stand as Summit League-bests and set new meet records for UW.
Medina-Mitchell picked up her first career Indoor Athlete of the Week after recording league-best times of 16:30.07 in the 5,000-meters and 9:31.93 in the 3,000-meters. Her 5,000-meter time ranks seventh in the nation and improves her previous school record by more than 55 seconds, while her 3,000-meter time ranks 49th in the nation.
ORU pole-vaulter Jack Whitt was also named Male Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
Levins and Medina-Mitchell will be back to compete this weekend when they travel to Albuquerque, N.M. for the New Mexico Classic on Feb. 3-4.
