T-Bird Gymnastics Facing Broncos on Senior Night

CEDAR CITY, Utah - March 14 - Southern Utah University gymnastics will host Boise State University on Friday night and will also be honoring its three seniors for their contributions to the team during their four years in Cedar City.

“This certainly hasn't been the season we had been hoping for,” head coach Scott Bauman said, “But, I expect that we'll come out strong for this meet and send our seniors out the right way. Boise State is probably the best team we have faced at home this season, but the meet will really just come down to who can hit their routines.”

Southern Utah will be looking to snap its winless streak at home this season, but will find a tough opponent in No. 15 Boise State to try and break through into the win column this weekend. The Thunderbirds have already beaten the Broncos this season, finishing with a 194.525 in Logan after BSU (193.525) had to count falls on bars and beam.

Falls will be something that Southern Utah will look to avoid after having to count two falls and a big wobble on beam last week, costing the meet against Utah State. The loss was the first for the Thunderbirds in 25 meets against the Aggies.

Southern Utah will enter the meet ranked No. 45 in the country with team averages of 48.589 on vault, 48.281 on bars, 47.931 on beam and 48.475 on floor.

Fans can follow the meet via a free video stream and live stats online at www.suutbirds.com. The video stream will feature mostly Southern Utah gymnasts with occasional routines by Boise State also being shown. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in Centrum Arena.
