AUSTIN, Texas - Cameron Levins highlighted Southern Utah University track & field success on Thursday in the first day of the NCAA West Preliminaries.
Levins breezed to a first-place mark in the 10k, finishing in 29:58.44 in a pace that was described by head coach Eric Houle as slow.
"The race went out slow and stayed slow,"
Houle said. "That will really help Cam out on Saturday when
he runs the 5k."
In the men's field events, Chris Johnson was unable to record a mark in the men's shot put, faulting on all three attempts. Cody Olsen finished 36th in the field of 48 after throwing a mark of 191 feet five inches in the javelin.
Back on the track, Preston Myers competed in his first of two events, finishing the men's 100-meters with a time of 10.63. Myers will return tomorrow and compete in the men's 200-meters after finishing 43rd on day one of the NCAA preliminaries.
