SWEET RIVALRY

The Southern Utah football team hosts the Weber State Wildcats for the Beehive Bowl. The Thunderbirds head into the match-up following a road loss at North Dakota. SUU looks to extend its home winning-streak to nine.

LAST MEETING/SERIES HISTORY

The last time the Thunderbirds and the Wildcats met, Southern Utah blew over Weber State for a 44-0 victory in Stewart Stadium in Ogden, Utah last season. WSU leads 15-7 all-time over SUU. In Cedar City, the Thunderbirds are 2-4 against the Wildcats.

WORDS FROM COACH WARREN

“Even if we were 0-6, we could still make our season with this game. Everybody knows that. We play for a trophy, and that thing sits in our locker room all year long if we win the game and if we don't, it's over at the other school. So this is an important game for us. Records and everything else go out the window when you play Weber State.

“They're well coached. They have a plethora of good running backs. In fact, their running backs coach was one of my high school teammates; He does a great job with those guys. And they have a defense that flies around. They are loaded with talent. They did a great job recruiting the last three or four years, and it's starting to show.

“They've been playing really well. It'll be a big challenge for our offense, but I feel like we've taken some big steps in the right direction. We had some really good drives last week. We're just trying to get more consistent on offense.”
