SUU Men's Basketball Signs Dre Marin to National Letter of Intent

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Jacob Dre Marin has signed his letter of intent to play basketball for the Southern Utah University Thunderbirds.

“Dre is a tremendous addition to the Thunderbird program. He embodies what we want our young men to be about as a person, student, and player,” head coach Todd Simon said. “He brings toughness, defensive intensity, shooting, and playmaking. He's played for a coach that has instilled a winning mentality in him that he will carry over to Southern Utah.”

The Glendale, Arizona native averaged 21 points and four assists per game throughout his high school career at Apollo High School. The 5'11” point guard shot 85% from the freethrow line and 45% from the field.

“Dre Marin is one of the top guards in the state and with good reason. Marin is definitely in the discussion for most consistent shooters and top defenders in the state.” -Prephoops

Marin played high school basketball under the helm of his father, Apollo High School head coach Jac Marin. Upon making the move to Cedar City, Dre will be returning to his roots as his father played basketball at Cedar High School.
