CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Southern Utah University Men's Basketball Head Coach Todd Simon announced the signing of 6'8 small forward, Jacob Calloway, to a national letter of intent.

"Jacob is a tremendous fit for Southern Utah basketball.  He has great size for his skill level, excellent basketball IQ and loves to work on his game," said Coach Simon. "His upside is extremely high and he is a high character young man that will embody what we want from our Thunderbird athletes."

Calloway hails from Juneau, Alaska, where he graduated from Thunder Mountain High School under Head Coach John Blasco.  Calloway averaged 24 points per game, 11.5 rebounds per game, 3.2 assists per game, 4.5 steals per game, and 3.8 blocks per game during the 2014-2015 season.  Calloway also shot 53% from the floor and 45% from three point range.  Calloway will be the first division one athlete from Thunder Mountain High School.   

Calloway spent this last season at On Point Hoops Academy (OK) under Head Coach Jacob Miller.  Calloway averaged 26.3 points per game and 12.6 rebounds per game including a season high 47 points and 20 rebounds.  Calloway also had 41 points and 15 rebounds against Clarendon Community College.  

According to Calloway, he chose SUU because, “I liked the coaching staff.  I feel like it had a great family feel.  I also liked the style of play Coach Simon is going to implement.”
