Transfer Jamil Jackson Joins Thunderbird Basketball Family

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Southern Utah University men's basketball program and head coach Todd Simon are excited to announce the addition of Jamil Jackson Jr. to the Thunderbird family.

The 6-foot-6 wing joins the Thunderbirds after spending a season at Williston State College in North Dakota under Rylee Hernandez where he led his team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game as a freshman.

Jackson was named First Team All League and ranked on jucorecruiting.com's Top 100 List.

“We are extremely excited to have Jamil a part of the Thunderbird family. Jamil is a big guard who brings versatility, athleticism, and skill to our team,” head coach Todd Simon said. “He's a high character young man who will immediately impact our program in many ways.”

Prior to Williston State, Jackson played at Minneapolis North High School under legendary coach Larry McKenzie where he led his team to a state title as a junior.

The native of Minneapolis, MN, will join the Thunderbirds with three years of eligibility.
