CEDAR CITY, Utah -- Angie Nickerson claimed the Indoor Track and Field Big Sky Athlete of the Week Awards after a record breaking performance at the UW Invite on January 25.
Nickerson competed in the 5,000-meter where she broke the school record with a time of 16:12.09. This time also secured a sixth place finish among national competition in Washington.
This is Nickerson's first Big Sky Athlete of the Week award of this season and her third career Athlete of the Week award. Nickerson has also claimed four Big Sky Champion titles over the course of her career at SUU.
"Angie had a goal this season and she made it happen," commented head coach Eric Houle. "She is easily sitting in the top fifty athletes in the nation and that is a big accomplishment. It is exciting to think of where she will go from here.
