CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Thunderbird volleyball program will travel to Odgen, Utah and Pocatello, Idaho this week in hopes of picking up two road wins against Weber State and Idaho State. 

"As we head into the second half of the conference schedule, we need to keep our focus on improving each day," said heach coach Pete Hoyer. "With the Big Sky conference proving to be so competitive this year, every little detail will matter."

Last Time Out 

The Thunderbirds fell to both Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado last week. The Lumberjacks overcame the Thunderbirds 3-1 and the Bears swept the Thunderbirds 3-0. 

Shannon Webb led the Thunderbirds in kills with 27. Sarah Gasper led defensively with 25 digs. Corrin Peterson tallied a total of 72 assists. 

The Thunderbirds are now 11-11 overall, 4-6 in Big Sky play and sit in seventh place within BSC standings. 

Opponent Preview: Weber State University Wildcats (15-6 Overall, 6-4 BSC)

The Wildcats are on a four-game win streak, after defeating the University of Idaho 3-2 and Eastern Washington University 3-1 during last weeks contests. 

Dani Nay, a redshirt freshman for the Wildcats, leads the team in kills with 225, averaging 3.36 kills per set. Setter Ashlyn Power tallies the most assists with 870, averaging 10.88 assists per set. Defensively, Helena Khouri totals 270 digs, averaging 3.38 digs per set. Megan Gneiting averages 0.99 blocks per set.

The last time SUU faced Weber State was September 28, 2019 in Cedar City, where the Thunderbirds downed the Wildcats 3-2. 

Head coach Jeremiah Larsen is amidst his fourth season at the helm of the Wildcats program. 

The Thunderbirds will face the Wildcats on October 31, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in Ogden, Utah. 

Opponent Preview: Idaho State University (6-16 Overall, 3-7 BSC)

The Bengals are coming off a 0-2 weekend where they fell 3-0 to Eastern Washington University and the University of Idaho. 

Senior Hailey Keck leads the ISU offense with 218 kills on the season, averaging 2.66 kills per set. Andri Dewey tallies the most assists on the season with 424, averaging 6.95 per set. Defensively, Mahla Bradburn totals the most digs for the Bengals with 340, followed by Keck who chips in 260, respectively. 

The Thunderbirds last saw the Bengals on September 26, 2019 in Cedar City, Utah where the T-Birds fell 3-0.  

Sami Stuart is among her first year as the head coach of the Bengals. 

The ISU matchup will be held in Pocatello, Idaho on Saturday, November 2, at 7:00 p.m.
