Shannon Webb had nine kills followed by Stacey Hone who had eight. Corrin Peterson tallied 21 assists for the Thunderbirds. Thea Leiataua led the SUU defense with 13 digs.

The Hornets earned an early lead over the Thunderbirds at 11-7 in the first set. SUU's comeback effort brought them within two at 14-12 after going on a 3-0 scoring run. Sacramento earned a sideout and went on a 5-0 scoring run, pushing their lead to eight at 21-13. The Thunderbirds weren't able to recover as the Hornets took the set 25-18.

SUU chased the Hornets at the 7-2 mark but fought their way back with two at 8-6 before Sacramento was able to rally back. As the set unfolded the Hornets extended their lead to nine at 18-9. The Thunderbirds battle back fell short as Sacramento took the second set 25-16.
