RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Southern Utah softball team wrapped up play in a tournament hosted by UC Riverside with a 2-4 loss to the host Highlanders.

Dream Weaver went 2-for-4 in the game with two singles. Madison Tuft, Mikelle Magalogo, and Hannah Williams all had hits in the game and Makenzie Ball picked up a RBI. Tuft extended her hitting streak to nine games, Weaver extended hers to seven games, and Magalogo extended hers to five.

Down 1-0, the Thunderbirds rallied in the fourth inning and were able to score two runs to take the lead. Magalogo and Williams both reached on singles and Williams was able to steal second base to give SUU second and third with one out. Ball brought home Magalogo with an RBI fielder's choice and then Williams scored from third on a double steal play to make it 2-1.

The Highlanders answered in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own to make it 3-2. They added another run in the fifth inning.

The Thunderbirds gave themselves a chance in the seventh inning, by loading the bases with just one out. They wouldn't be able to bring a run across however, as the game ended 4-2.

The T-Birds will open Big Sky Conference next weekend with a three-game series against Sacramento State in Sacramento.
